The Level B Service Ride

WHERE: Maasdam Barns in Fairfield, IA

TIME: Rollout between 7am – 9am

Welcome, to a ride in service to all things gravel, (and dirt!).

 

Our 1st Annual ‘Level B Service Ride’ features the backroads of Jefferson County in SE Iowa, where we have more dirt roads than any neighboring county.

Choose from 3 loop options at registration: Short – Let’s Roll (28 mi.), Medium – Shut Up Legs (51 mi.), and Long – Masochistic (85 mi.); with a combined 36.1 miles of dirt and 7,563 feet of elevation gain to test your mettle. Please check out our routes on Ride With GPS. You can find the maps here. We will have a few cue sheets printed out the day of for those who don’t have a GPS capable device. Reminder: This is a “mostly” on your own ride with little to no signage. We will have a SAG and Water/ Snack Stations along each route if needed.

We will roll out Saturday, July 25th between 7am – 9am, (this is not a race). Start and finish at the historic Maasdam Barns in Fairfield, IA. Once you finish, feel free to go back into Fairfield and grab something to drink and eat to celebrate your finish. Let’s Roll – 28 Miles

The Let’s Roll route has 20.8 miles of gravel, 5.0 miles of “Enter At Your Own Risk” dirt roads, and 2.8 miles of paved roads. You will climb 968 feet during this ride. There will be one water stop at Zillman’s County Park around the 20 mile mark. If the dirt is mud due to day of, or recent rain, a similar route avoiding the dirt sections will be used. Rain route is TBD.

Shut Up Legs – 51 Miles

The Shut Up Legs route has 38.9 miles of gravel, 9.5 miles of “Enter At Your Own Risk” dirt roads, and 2.8 miles of paved roads. You will climb 2,240 feet during this ride. There will be water stops at 20 mi, 35 mi, and 45 mi. If the dirt is mud due to day of, or recent rain, a similar route avoiding the dirt sections will be used. Rain route is TBD.

Masochistic – 85 Miles

The Masochisic route has 55.2 miles of gravel, 21.6 miles of “Enter At Your Own Risk” dirt, and 7.9 miles of paved roads. You will climb 4,355 feet during this ride. There will be water stops at 20 mi, 43 mi, and 73 mi marks. If the dirt is mud due to day of, or recent rain, a similar route avoiding the dirt sections will be used. Rain route is TBD.

  2. Your “Level B” Jersey if you bought one
  3. Water Bottles (more than one) 
  4. Cycling Shoes
  5. Tools to fix a flat – We will have a SAG if needed.
  6. Garmin/ GPS Device – remember to download the map the day before the ride, if you don’t have a GPS device we will have printed off cue sheets the day of ride. 
  7. Printed ticket for registration.
